On Writing and Blogging, and a Bit of Good News

If you follow Bella Verita, I must apologize. I’m a bad blogger by blogging standards not having posted more than a couple times in the last year. That and a blog is supposed to have a single focus and I seem to be all over the place. Again, my apologies. I have been working on a few projects and in lieu of them, haven’t posted much.

Writing is a solitary gig. It takes much thought, solitude and time. Blogging is fast paced. To be honest, I’m not sure if I have the chops to be a true blogger. Shifting focus between working on projects and blogging, for me, is difficult. I am enjoying writing, though, and plan to continue. As for the blog, I’ll continue to post news and the occasional post much like I’ve been doing.

Bit of Good NewsWestview Spring-Summer 2015

One of the projects I’ve been working on is a short story called, “The Scent of Maple,” which I’m excited to say was just published in Westview: A Journal of Western OklahomaThe story appears in Westview’s Spring/Summer 2015 issue, Volume 31, Number 2.

I’m honored that “The Scent of Maple” was chosen to be included alongside the works of the many talented writers and poets that appear in Westview.

If you’re interested in reading “The Scent of Maple” head on over to Westview. Copies of the journal are available for purchase.

And, thank you for taking the time to read my words. I’m very grateful to those of you who’ve come along on this journey with me. So, thank you!

Update (October 2016): Westview’s Spring/Summer 2015 issue, Volume 31, Number 2 which includes “The Scent of Maple” is now also available to read online.

  2. Congratulations!

Also, you’re wise to work within your strengths rather than chasing after something that continually stretches your personality. You wrote, “Shifting focus between working on projects and blogging, for me, is difficult.” Finding focus is key to maximizing our productivity. Keep up the excellent work and point people there as you find success!
